Addressing the gathering at the world literacy day celebration on Tuesday, he said that a sum of Rs 22 lakh has been released to the district for literacy programme this year, of which Rs 1.50 lakh has been released to the taluk.
He said that it is not enough if a person is made literate, instead there is a need to inculcate modern and contemporary ideas and point of view too.
Taluk Panchayat Executive Officer Vasanth Kumar said that education can be a solution for most of the problems of the individuals.
Taluk Panchayat President M S Jayaprakash presided over the programme. TP Vice-President Mallika Naveen among others were present.
