As many as 70 cattle died after consuming poisonous substance here at Henuberu of Paduvari Gram Panchayat in Ottinene.

Speaking to Deccan Herald, department of animal husbandry Deputy Director M T Manjunath informed that the cattle died after grazing in a land where bio medical wastes had been dumped. The post mortem was carried out.

The report and viscera samples have been sent to forensic science laboratory in Bangalore to find out the cause of the death, he added.

Superintendent Dr Boralingaiah M B informed that initially possibilities of infection were considered as the one of the cause for the death. However as of now the possibilities of infection is ruled out following the post mortem of the cattle.

Now it is suspected that bio medical waste could be reason behind the death. “We can expect report from forensic science laboratory only after 10 to 15 days. I will personally request forensic science laboratory director to send the report at the earliest.

It is only then we will be in the position to analyse the cause behind the sudden death of cattle”, he added.
