JD(S) to celebrate Gowda's 50 yrs in politics

The JD(S) has planned a slew of programmes to celebrate its supremo H D Deve Gowda’s 50 years in politics. 

The party has organised a felicitation programme to mark the golden jubilee during the party’s youth wing convention in Davangere on May 13. It will be followed by another in Bangalore in June and rallies in all the district headquarters, said Y S V Datta, the JD(S) spokesperson on Wednesday.

National-level leaders of various political parties are expected to participate. “We want to invite all political leaders who had worked earlier with Gowda. We held a meeting today to discuss our programmes, in particular the Youth JD(S) convention for which Madhu Bangarappa is in-charge,” he said. 

Datta said a book tracing the political growth of Gowda will be released to mark the golden jubilee. “I am writing and editing the book, which is yet to get a title. It is almost ready. It is not a biography. The 1,000-page book has speeches and letters of Gowda, besides his struggle to build the party,” he said.
