'Focus on providing facilities to pilgrims'

State Endowment Commissioner has said that pilgrim centres should focus on providing good infrastructure facilities to pilgrims. Steps should be taken by the religious centres to see to it that the devotees get food, ‘darshan of the deity’ and stay facilities easily at the pilgrim centre.

Inspecting the work progressing under I phase (Rs 60 crore) of the master plan of Rs 180 crore at Sri Kukke Subramanya temple, on Thursday, he said that the work should have been completed within stipulated time limit but despite the delay attempts are being made to complete the work as soon as possible so that devotees can be offered better facilities.

He said that the contractors have been asked to complete the work on guest house with 1,000 rooms which will be offered to devotees at reasonable price. The dormitory will be completed by May 20, VVPI guest house and parking area will be ready by May 31, he said adding that a Committee led by Deputy Commissioner has been formed to look into the making of the new ‘brahmarathothsava’ of the temple.

Assistant Commissioner Lakshmi, Puttur Assistant Commissioner Sundar Bhat, Temple Executive Officer H M Kali among others were present.
