Usurer arrested

Officers of the Central Crime Branch - Cheating and Misuse Wing raided a residence in Chandra Layout on Saturday and arrested a usurer.

The arrested, N Suresh Rao, 47, has been accused of charging interest rates that were higher than the government prescribed interest rate of 10 per cent. The police have seized several blank cheques and mortgage documents that Rao had collected from his debtors.

Police said Suresh had financial transactions to the tune of about of Rs 25 lakh. A case has been registered in the Chandra Layout Police Station.
