If one analyses the SSLC results in Kodagu district, then parents may express fear over the decline in quality of education in government schools in the district.

It is true that the Kodagu district has secured 13th place in the overall results and the pass percentage is 82.55 per cent. However, the large portion of the pass percentage has come from the unaided schools.

The results of the government schools have not been up to the mark. There are 47 government high schools in Kodagu district, of 2,576 students who had appeared for the examination, only 1,929 students have passed with a pass percentage of 74.88 per cent.

There are 53 unaided schools in the district, of which 1,685 students appeared for the SSLC examination. A total of 1,560 have passed and the pass percentage is 92.58.

As many as 24 government schools and 43 private schools have secured more than 80 per cent results. As many as 18 unaided schools have secured cent per cent results.

However, only two government schools could secure hundred per cent results. Not even a single government school student has made it to the toppers’ list in the district.

“The students are given free textbooks, bicycle, uniforms and other facilities by the government and unfortunately despite these facilities, the result of the government schools have been poor,” said public.
