Ramachandra Gowda files papers from B'lore graduates constituency

Four-time MLC Ramachandra Gowda of the BJP filed his nomination papers from the Bangalore Graduates’ constituency on Friday.

Chief Minister D V Sadananda Gowda, Ministers Suresh Kumar, R Ashoka and Govind Karjol and several Bangalore legislators were present when he submitted his papers to the returning officer.

Gowda is pitted against Ramojam of the Congress and A Deve Gowda of the JD(S) in the constituency with a voter base of around 80,000.

Ramachandra Gowda, a former minister, has declared his assets to be worth Rs five crore.

The assets include a bungalow at Basaveshwaranagar and agricultural land near Hessarghatta. His wife Yashodha has declared assets worth Rs 2.3 crore.
May 23 is the last day for filing nomination papers, while the polling is scheduled for June 10.
Gowda resigned as the deputy chairperson of the State planning board, on Thursday. As per rules, a candidate should not hold office of profit.

Though the chairperson’s post does not considered as office of profit, he tendered his resignation a day before filing his papers.
