Hello, this is Mazy, the fantastic builder, even if he says so himself! See, I was gifted a building set recently, and I can make complicated models of buildings with the set.

I’ve always wanted to live in a tree house, ever since I read about a tree house in a book. But with no trees around our house, there was no chance of a tree house, of course. But yesterday, I not only made a tree house, but also built a tree! Aren’t building blocks amazing?

Many architects have been inspired by the houses that are described in storybooks.

Designers in Amsterdam have built a structure called ‘Villa Peet’ that was inspired by Lewis Carroll’s Alice’s Adventures in Wonderland. It isn’t a colourful house, but it is one where each space is a contrast to the next, making it a  magical place.

Playing with blocks and solving puzzles, like the Rubik’s Cube, for example, are a great way to learn things that we need to learn in life — how to solve a problem, how to stay calm when you can’t solve a problem, how to enjoy and share joy when you do solve a problem!
Now let’s see if you can solve this: a cube has six different colours on each of its faces. How many of these cubes do you need to make a bigger cube, with one whole face the same colour? And to make the next bigger cube, how many single cubes would you need?

Out of the maze:  8 cubes. The colour fact doesn’t matter at all. To make a cube of you need 1 x 1 x1 cubes = 1 cube, or 2 x 2x 2 = 8 cubes, and to make the next bigger sized cube you would need 3 x 3 x 3 =27 cubes.
