Fire at paint factory

Goods worth lakhs of rupees were reduced to ashes in a fire which broke out at a paint factory in Mayapuri of west Delhi of Saturday, police said.

Nobody was injured in the blaze which was reported from B-Block of Mayapuri Industrial Area Phase 1 around 2:50 pm.

Fire department officials suspect a short-circuit to be the cause of the blaze.
The fire brigade officials took around five hours to douse the flames.

“Twenty-five fire tenders were pressed into service. Thankfully, no person was injured,” an official said.

He added the blaze was first noticed by the paint factory workers.
“They initially tried to douse the flames themselves, but informed us when they failed. We told the fire department and firefighters reached the scene in minutes,” the police official said.

Police are ascertaining the value of goods lost in the fire.
