After month long play, children return to schools

Last Updated 30 May 2012, 17:21 IST

On Wednesday, all the school kids who enjoyed their summer vacations returned to school in neat uniforms, across the district. While rural kids thronged to bus stands to board buses on time, in the cities kids came to schools in their parents’ vehicles or on their bicycles.

After a prayer at the school, the kids started their routine.

The scenes of parents, elder siblings, school vans taking the kids to school was a common scene on the first day of the academic year. In many schools, the attendance of students was rather weak because many kids must have not come out of the holiday mood.

At the portals of many schools banners welcoming the kids, ‘Shala Prarambhothsava’ and literature urging parents to send their kids to schools were seen.

Since a week, most of the stationary shops have been seeing good number of people coming to purchase books, bags, labels, binding papers, pen, pencil etc for the kids.
Azad Park Kannada Higher Primary School was embellished with ‘Thorana’ and banana plants to welcome the parents and students to the school.

With the school reopening, the District Maidan and Azad Park, which saw the giggling of the children for the last one month has returned to silence. Though the kids were excited to have new set of books, new textbooks etc, they almost turned towards the schools reluctantly as most of them found it difficult to part from the fun filled holidays.
