<p>Amateur Astronomers’ Association of Mangalore has made arrangement to view Venus transit, a rare celestial event of the century wherein a venus will pass in front of the Sun, at St Agnes Institutions in Bendore on Wednesday. <br /><br /></p>.<p>Addressing a press meet, H Jayanth of the Association said that it is a rare event which occurs once in 120 years. Though similar celestial event had occurred in 2005, Mangaloreans could not view due to bad weather. <br /><br />It will be visible in Mangalore from sunrise to 10.19 am. As per the calculation, next such event would take place after 117 years, he said.<br /><br />As part of the arrangement, he said there will be a video presentation. <br />Jayanth said watching the event using sunglasses or x-ray sheets would not help. <br />Since Venus in transit will form only a small spot on the sun, it will not be visible to the bare eye. <br /><br /></p>
