'Plans to grow vegetables in all schools'

Scouts and Guides Commissioner K T Baby Mathew said that plans are afoot to create ‘Parisara mithra shaale’ by growing vegetables in all the school premises.

Speaking at World Environment Day organised by district legal services authority, Scouts and Guides, Pollution Control Board, Mahilodaya Mahila Okkuta, ODP and Club Mahindra here on Tuesday, he said the district administration and education department can think of awarding the best schools.

DySP J D Prakash said “a clean environment is essential to lead a healthy life. By protecting environment, one will get pure air and pure drinking water.”

The Pollution Control Board has been creating awarenss on organic farming, bio fuel and increasing greenery. CMC Commissioner N M Shashikumar, DDPI (in charge) Machado, DDPI (retd) N A Ramaswamy were felicitated. 

An environment jatha was flagged off by district and sessions judge S R Somashekar.
Club Mahindra organised a programme to mark environment day at Government PU College. A jatha which was flagged off by CMC President H M Nandakumar passed through main streets of Madikeri.
