Poll banners put up by the BJP and JD(S) party workers for the council polls for South East teachers’ constituency were damaged by some miscreants.

JD(S) members angered by the damage of their candidate Toopalli R Chowdareddy’s banners burnt
BJP candidate Y A Narayanaswamy’s flex banners put up near the Bescom office.

Later, members of BJP staged a protest and blocked the main road for some time, demanding action against JD(S) members.

The protest was withdrawn after the police personnel arrived on the spot and convinced the
protesters. Members of both the parties have lodged a complaint in the town police station in the taluk.

Following which, the tahsildar D V Ramamurthy directed the officers concerned to remove all the flex banners put up in the taluk.

BJP members staged a protest against the district administration’s decision of removing banners of their candidate Y Narayanaswamy. Protesters argued against the order and stopped the workers from removing the banners.

They requested the Assistant Commissioner Ayeesha Parveen and the CMC Commissioner Mahendra Kumar, not to allow the removal of the banners and that they are ready to pay fine.
But the authorities did not budge and warned them of strict action if they hinder the administrative work.
