Three men have been arrested for looting cash and valuables worth Rs 57,000 from a jewellery shop at Seemapuri in north-east Delhi, police said on Wednesday.

Chaman Lal, Akhlaq Ahmed, and Dal Chand, were held over Manoj Saini’s complaint that his jewellery shop was robbed on May 30.

“Manoj claimed that some armed robbers had barged into his shop and held him and his employees hostage. They looted Rs 50,000 in cash, and gold and silver ornaments and fled away,” said Sanjay Kumar Jain, deputy commissioner of police (crime and railways).

Acting on a tip-off, a trap was laid and Chaman and Akhlaq were apprehended. Two country-made pistols, ammunition and a motorcycle used were recovered, police said. They confessed to have robbed, adding they sold off the ornaments to Dal Chand. Police then nabbed Chand and a case has been registered.
