JOIN USRupak Kumar Dutta, 1981 batch IPS officer of Karnataka cadre, has been appointed Additional Director in the CBI.
Before joining CBI, Dutta was Director General of Police, CID, Special Units & Economic Offences in Karnataka.
Earlier, Dutta held several important positions in Anti Corruption, Training,MDMA & other Divisions / Zones in CBI from 1988 to 1996 and 2000 to 2006 including the post of Joint Director, DIG and SP.
Dutta has held various positions in Karnataka, as Superintendent of Police, Karwar and Davanagere; DIGP, Intelligence, Security Vigilance & Northern Range and IGP North Eastern Range. He has also served as Additional Director General of Police (Law & Order) and also as ADGP in Karnataka Lokayukta.
A B.Tech from IIT Kanpur and M.B.A from Swinburne University,Australia, Dutta has been decorated with the Police Medal for Meritorious Service and the President’s Police Medal for Distinguished Service.
