For a good cause

Oxfam India recently announced the launch of its signature fundraising event – ‘Trailwalker 2013’. The first season, held just some time back, had seen good participation and the organisers were hoping that the response would be good this year as well.

The event had a successful debut in February, where 80 teams participated in full strength. The task was to walk 100 kms within 48 hours.

The new trail that has been identified for ‘Trailwalker 2013’ that is scheduled to be held on January 25 and 27, 2013, in the City, will start from Pearl Valley (locally named Muthyalu Maduvu) adjacent to Hosur Road, Anekal and pass through long stretches of mud road and scenic villages before ending at Eagleton in Bidadi. The trail route was altered after appropriate feedback from the people.

The new route consists of more mud tracks and kaccha roads to make the walking experience memorable. Speaking on the occasion, Nisha Agrawal, CEO, Oxfam India, said, “Initially, everyone thought that 100 km is not possible and there was a lot of scepticism around.

Now, I am happy and motivated to organise this event every year. I have also decided to participate in the next year’s event, I am excited.”  She said that they are expecting around 120 teams next year.
