It is already four months since a borewell was sunk in Sugatur in the taluk, but no motor has been connected, depriving the residents of the facilities, complained farmers.

The residents of Sugatur, led by the president of the Gram Panchayat as well as members of the Raitha Sangha and Hasiru Sene, blocked the road on Wednesday, demanding motor connection.

Rajendra Cholan, chief executive officer of the Zilla Panchayat, and K S Bhat, executive officer of the Taluk Panchayat, arrived at the spot and tried to pacify the protesters, who, however, refused to budge.

Only when Cholan instructed the officer concerned to immediate install a motor in the village did the residents move from the road.

District convenor of the Raitha Sangha K Srinivas Gowda, Sugatur Gram Panchayat president Vishwanath, Venkatachalapathi, Munegowda, Nandini, Kooteri Nagaraj, Bisanahalli Harinath and others participated in the protest.
