A 15-year-old girl from the national capital, who went to Nainital in Uttarakhand for sightseeing on her female friend’s insistence, was gang raped in a hotel in Nainital by three men police said.

The three accused identified as Mohammad Jamshed, 26,  Mohammad Haroon, 26,  and Mohammad Shadab, 22, all taxi drivers, were arrested in Haldwani and brought to Delhi on June 17.

The victim, a resident of  Mor Band at Badarpur in south east Delhi, came in touch with a 17-year-old girl from her neighbourhood a few weeks ago. The girl, who hails from Haldwani in Uttarakhand, had come to her elder sister’s place at Badarpur for summer vacation.

Both the girls became friends and started spending time together. The 17-year-old girl insisted that the victim should visit her home town Nainital for a few days.

They went to Nainital on June 12. From Nainital they went to Haldwani and stayed in a hotel.

After a day, the victim’s friend called to the hotel room three people who allegedly raped her. The victim’s new friend left the hotel room and never returned.

The traumatised victim, however, managed to return home. She reached Delhi two days after the incident and narrated it to her parents.

They rushed to Badarpur police station and informed officials about it.
After medical reports confirmed rape, police registered a case of rape and kidnapping against the three accused. A police team was sent to Haldwani.

All the three accused were arrested and brought to Delhi on remand.
Police also located the victim’s friend and brought her to the capital. Both the girls were produced before the child welfare committee. The victim was handed over to her parents while the other girl was sent to Nari Niketan on Monday.
