Vishnuvandana, the daughter of former Koppal Lok Sabha member H G Ramulu, allegedly kidnapped from Jayanagar Shopping Complex on Monday evening, was secured by the City police at the Chennai Central Railway Station on Tuesday evening.

According to police, the 47-year-old woman was found alone at the railway station. She was “safe and sound”.

Senior police officers told Deccan Herald that two special teams were formed to trace Vishnuvandana after they collected some information from her husband Ravi Kumar and her father H G Ramulu late Monday night.

While one team was to leave for Hyderabad, police traced the car Vishnuvandana was travelling by. Finding it heading towards Chennai, a police team rushed to the Tamil Nadu capital.

Meanwhile, Vandana was in constant touch with her husband on her mobile phone since
she was kidnapped on Monday evening. Police instructed Kumar, her husband, to ask her probing questions to get leads on her whereabouts and the persons who had abducted her.

Police sources say she wasn’t coherent and there was no logic or reason in what she spoke in half sentences. She was in a state of panic.

Police sources say she was constantly referring to a relative’s marriage that took place recently at the Palace Grounds. She apparently referred indirectly to some issues that were discussed before the wedding. However, Kumar failed to grasp what she was saying.

The special team that had left for Chennai traced the woman to Chennai Central Railway Station based on mobile call records around 5 pm on Tuesday. She was alone and there was no trace of any abductors.

Sources say she was in a state of shock and panic and was weeping uncontrollably. She is being brought back to the City and is expected to reach Bangalore early Wednesday morning.

Asked about the motive of the alleged kidnap and other details, police said they had no clear picture yet.

However, senior officers confirmed it was not an abduction for ransom. The suspects neither harmed the victim nor demanded ransom.
As per preliminary reports, police are of the view that the incident may be a fallout of domestic problems in the Ramulu household.
