HC asks KHB to amend regulations

The High Court on Tuesday directed the Karnataka Housing Board (KHB) to amend its regulations in allotment of stray sites in conformity with the Supreme Court directions.

Hearing a petition filed by Madhuraj and others challenging the allotment of site by overlooking them, Justice Ashok B Hinchigeri has directed the KHB to regulate its allotment of sites.

He said: “Public property cannot be distributed in an unguided manner. Property cannot be distributed at the whims and fancies of the government.”

The discretionary powers should be exercised based on certain guidelines in compliance with the apex court verdict, he added.
