A delegation of farmers led by legislator M Narayanaswamy met the chief minister on Wednesday to emphasise on the importance of protecting the waterbody.

The delegation reportedly told the CM that more than 5,000 farmers in the command area of the tank will be put into trouble with the proposed project to supply water to Malur from the tank.

The project cancelled, if found detrimental to the interest of farmers, and the matter will be looked into by the proposed experts committee, he assured, according to a release.
Taluk Panchayat member P Narayanaswamy, Gram Panchayat president Venkateshappa, Milk Producers Cooperative Society president V Markanade Gowda and others were part of the delegation.
