Tunga reservoir at Gajnur, nearly 10 km from here, is full to the brim following heavy rains at Agumbe in Teerthahalli taluk, Koppa and Sringeri in Chikmagalur district over the last four days.

According to the dam authorities, 1,800 cusec of water was discharged into the Tunga river from 10 crest gates out of the 22 on Thursday, as the reservoir water level rose to the maximum 588.24 feet. The inflow was 8,500 cusec on Friday.

All the gates may be opened in the coming days if there is a further increase in the inflow of water into the dam. Teerthahalli, Hosanagar and Sagar taluks witnessed cloudy weather on June 22.
