Child labourers rescued

In a recent raid, labour officers rescued four child labourers working at different places in the city.

The rescued children have been identified as Sadiq and Nayaz working at a club in Lashkar Mohalla, Roop Singh working in a tea stall and Guru Kiran from a shop in Urs Complex. They have been sent to a special school for child labourers in the city.

The team of officers consisted of assistant labour commissioner Venkatesh Apppaiah Shindihatti, labour officer Zageer Pasha, senior labour inspectors Chetan Kumar, Puttachari, Shivashankarappa and Hemalatha, and planning director Sowmya.

According to law, employing a person below 14 years of age is prohibited. The guilty has to pay a compensation of Rs 20,000, besides a fine of Rs 20,000 or imprisonment between three months and one year, said a release from the department.
