Ankita enters semis

Eight-seeded Ankita Raina of India fought back from a set down to register a 3-6, 6-1, 6-4 victory over compatriot Prerna Bhambri and entered the women’s singles semifinals of the $10,000 ITF tournament at the DLTA complex here on Thursday.

Delhi girl Prerna, seeded-fourth, ran away with the first set but Ankita, the champion of the last tournament here, rallied to seal a thrilling victory.

Ankita now meets compatriot and national champion Rutuja Bhosale in an all Indian semifinal. Rutuja dispatched Katherine IP of Hong Kong 6-2, 6-1.

In the other quarterfinal matches, second-seeded ZhaoxuanYang of China proved too good for India's Shweta Rana, winning 6-2, 6-0.

She now plays third-seeded Miyabi Inoue of Japan, who defeated India's Vaniya Dangwal 6-2, 6-3.
