As the 19th International Aids Conference (IAC) 2012 kicks-off at Washington from July 22 to 27, a parallel event will be hosted in Kolkata, where 900 sex workers from 27 countries would take part.
India emerged as a venue for the parallel conference of sex workers, since the United States policies do not allow them in that country. The event, Global Hub, is being held in India for the first time. The conference,with the theme ‘Sex-Workers Freedom Festival’, will be digitally connected with the main conference.
