The High Court on Monday dismissed a PIL which sought social security and financial assistance to those infected with H1N1.

Hearing a petition, a Division Bench comprising Chief Justice Vikramjit Sen and Justice B V Nagarathna said the petitioner’s plea was not practical as it was impossible to identify all people infected with H1N1. “Also, where is the money to do such checks and how should the government do it,” the court asked.

The petitioner said that people affected by diseases like malaria have health assistance and proper support system. However, in the case of H1N1, the government is waking up to it only when people die, said the petitioner.
