'Ekta is a genius'

Anyone who assumed that Sonali Bendre has both witnessed and passed her peak in the film industry can think again — the actress has proved the adage about getting better with age by bagging a role in the sequel to the 2010-blockbuster, Once Upon A Time in Mumbaai. 

Apparently, Sonali will be playing a highly significant role in the film — the character has been chalked out by director Milan Luthria, who is known to be the master of unusual casting, especially for the actress. 

Says the director, “I’m thrilled to add another twist to the casing of Once Upon A Time in Mumbaai 2. Sonali is not only gorgeous to look at and a terrific actress, but suits the role to the ‘T’. 

My crew and I are super excited to offer her this platform.” Milan Luthria has tasted plenty of success when his last two films, ‘The Dirty Picture’ and Once Upon A Time in Mumbaai set cash registers ringing — something which Sonali is fully aware of. “Yes, it is true — I will be a part of Once Upon A Time in Mumbaai 2, since it is a great role. With this film, it feels like I’m coming home since Shobha Kapoor has been Goldie’s very close family friend.

Additionally, Ekta Kapoor is a creative genius and has an amazing story sense, so I trust her judgment on this. I’ve also worked with Milan before and hence it’s a very comfortable space,” says Sonali Bendre.
