Security guard held at gunpoint

Unidentified assailants held a guard at gunpoint and robbed a car parked outside a bungalow in Hauz Khas area of south Delhi in the early hours of Monday.

The car owner was identified as Vipin Gupta.

The incident took place in Uday park area in Hauz Khas. Police recorded the statement of the guard, identified as, Abhimanyu, 21, a police officer said.

Guard’s statement

The guard had been employed three days ago and was on the night shift.

According to his statement, the incident took place around 3:30 am.

He woke up to a noise and found a person sitting in a car which was parked beside his owner’s car.

Another person had opened the door of his owner’s Hyundai Verna car.

When he asked them what they were doing, the duo posed as a finance company staff and told the guard that they had come to take the car away due to non payment of monthly instalments.

Hostage

When he tried to rush into the bungalow to inform his employers about the incident he was allegedly held at gunpoint by one of the persons, who threatened to shoot him if he tried to stop them.

The accused fled after robbing the car. The guard later raised an alarm and informed his employers.

The cops were informed about the incident. A case has been registered at Hauz Khas police station.

They have been provided with the vehicle number used by the accused. Police are trying to trace the whereabouts of the owner of the car in which the accused came.

They are also analysing phone call records.
