Poojitha wins title; Shreyal in final round

Tournament favourite Poojitha N of Horizon Table Tennis Academy clinched the junior girls’ title at the BNM State-ranking table tennis tournament here on Sunday.

Poojitha, who defeated Aishwarya R Bidri for BNM 11-3, 11-1, 11-7, 11-7 in her semifinal encounter, ousted Malathi Bhaskar of BNM 8-11, 11-3, 11-9, 11-4, 7-11, 11-5 in the final.
In the corresponding boys’ category, Shreyal K Telang and VP Charan will lock horns in Monday’s final.

Shreyal overcame a stiff challenge from Vedanth M Urs 2-11, 11-7, 11-6, 6-11, 7-11, 11-9, 11-6 en route to his final berth and SAI’s Charan ousted second-seede Sunand S Vasan 8-11, 12-10, 11-8, 9-11, 8-11, 11-7, 11-6.
