A teenager was allegedly stabbed to death by unidentified assailants when he resisted an armed robbery attempt in Alipur in outer Delhi late on Friday night.

Amit Kumar, 19, lived in a rented accommodation in Swarn Park in west Delhi and worked at a footwear factory in Alipur. Along with a colleague, he was returning home after withdrawing his salary on Friday when he was attacked at 11 pm.

“They had just left the factory when they were waylaid and attacked by a gang. His colleague managed to flee but he was stabbed in his thigh,” a police official said.

Police said the gang attacked the duo to rob them but stabbed Kumar when he resisted.

When his colleague returned to the spot after a while, he saw Kumar bleeding and informed police.

A police control room vehicle soon rushed to the spot and took him to Raja Harish Chander Hospital.

“But Kumar succumbed to his injuries. He died due to excessive loss of blood,” the official added.

Police have preserved his body for post-mortem at Babu Jagjivan Ram Memorial Hospital. His family members in Uttar Pradesh’s Fatehpur district have been informed about the death.

“The body will be handed over to the family once they come here,” the official said. A case of murder has been filed with Alipur police station.

Police said they have detained some persons and are questioning them. Besides robbery, police also do not rule out personal enmity as the reason behind the crime.
