Two minor girls were allegedly raped by persons known to them in two separate incidents in the Capital on Friday.

In the first incident, a 15-year-old girl was allegedly raped by a juvenile neighbour at her house in Jahangirpuri in north Delhi on Friday afternoon.

Police said the girl and the accused knew each other. The accused is also 15 years old.“The incident happened when she was at her C-Block house with her younger brother,” said a police official.

The boy, a class 9 student, threatened her not to talk about the assault to anybody. The girl then mustered enough courage and told her mother when she came home from work on Friday evening, following which the incident was reported to police.

A case under section 376 (rape) of the Indian Penal Code has been filed with Mahendra Park police station.

The boy was detained after the girl’s medical examination confirmed sexual assault.“He was presented before the Juvenile Justice Board on Saturday and sent to a juvenile home for criminals,” the official said.

The second incident was reported from Mundka in west Delhi. A 13-year-old girl was allegedly raped by her 21-year-old neighbour.

The class 8 student was alone at her house when the accused barged in on Friday evening and allegedly raped her.

“We were informed about the incident by the victim’s parents,” said a police official. He said the accused was held over a statement by the victim. Police said her medical reports confirmed rape.
