A significant innings begin

The orientation ceremony of the first-year BCom and BBM of Acharya Pathshala of Commerce College had a special significance for the students, who were thrilled to begin a new innings in their lives.While many of them were ready for college, others felt unprepared.

“I really wanted more time to prepare for college. All this while, I couldn’t wait to go to college and now that I am here, it feels like a dream. My parents are more excited than me and talked to me about not wasting my time and being choosy about friends,” said Krithika, a first-year student.

For most of them, school was a joyride and this was the time to get serious. “I think I will put in more effort. Now that I’m in college, it’s time to pull up my socks. There is so much to do and so much to know. I was a commerce student and am glad to have chosen it for higher studies too,” said Selvi, a fresher.

The students were given an introduction about the college, course and career options.
“It’s good to know that we have a wide range of prospects. The professors are helping with the combinations of subjects that we should choose. The best part is they are very approachable and answer all our queries patiently,” added Priya, a student.

The chief guest, G K. Govind Rao, a writer, felt that the students must shed their obsession with marks and concentrate on developing their individuality — educational institutions must impart this quality to them.

For now, the students are all set to make a mark in college and do their best in their chosen field. They are also very excited about interacting with their seniors and said that this relationship is essential for a student’s growth. “I am sure we will get ample opportunities to befriend seniors. They are really friendly and we hope that college is fun,” summed up Krithika.
