Addressing mediapersons, he refused to comment on political issues. However, asked about Karnataka Unaided Schools Management Association (Kusma) closing schools for a week, he said primary and secondary education minister Vishveshwara Hegde Kageri was holding talks with the association. He said the minister was to find a solution to break the deadlock between Kusma and the state government.

He later headed to the temple at Chamundi Hill to seek the blessings of the deity.

Speaking to mediapersons Shettar said he had sought the blessing of goddess Chamundi for the people of the state. With most parts of the state suffering from drought, Shettar said he had prayed for rains.
