Whether you’re leaving or coming back to the City via the Kempegowda International Airport (KIA) in the next three weeks, one thing is for sure. You will be left with a warm feeling in keeping with the festive season.

The reason for this is a musical and art extravaganza called the ‘Season of Smiles’ that has been greeting commuters at the airport since December 18 and has got thumbs-up from passengers.

On Twitter, #SeasonofSmile is abuzz with comments about the novelty of the activities. Chethan Mahajan writes: “It's a #seasonofsmiles indeed with the children’s choir at the Kempegowda International”.

Shashank Rathod who arrived in the City on December 19 was pleasantly surprised at the unexpected show at the airport. He wrote, “A cheerful welcome from Bangalore School of Music choir at the Bengaluru airport #seasonofsmiles”.

“At Bangalore Airport, feel like joining in with the carol singers, #seasonofsmiles,” wrote Amrit Ahuja, who was at the airport on December 22.

Organised by the KIA in association with Bangalore School of Music and non-profit organisation Dhaatu, it is an attempt to spread joy among passengers and visitors through music and art and bring alive the festive spirit surrounding Christmas, New Year, Pongal (Sankranti).

The month-long extravaganza will feature a wide range of shows that includes children’s choir, Western and Indian classical musical recitals, bands and art shows of caricatures, origami and puppetry.

Besides music and art, passengers also have a chance to win a number of daily prizes worth Rs 50,000 or more as well as four mega prizes worth Rs 10 lakh on purchase of items from selected stores. Log on to www.bengaluruairport.com
