A 22-year-old girl in outer Delhi was attacked by a stalker after she did not pay heed to his death threats, police said.

The victim had filed a case against the stalker and she did not withdraw her complaint despite threats from him.

Manju, a private college student, was shot at by Ishwar Singh, her neighbour in Rohini sector 3 of outer Delhi on Monday.

Around 4 pm, when she was outside her home in Budh Vihar sector 3, Ishwar passed by on his bike and fired at her. The bullet hit her thigh.

“She was later taken to a nearby hospital, where her condition was declared stable after preliminary treatment,” said a police official.

Manju had lodged a complaint of stalking and molestation against Ishwar on May 11 at Vijay Vihar police station after she was annoyed with him.

When Ishwar came to know this, he threatened her of dire consequences if she did not withdraw her complaint.

Manju did not withdraw her complaint and this made Ishwar more furious. He started troubling her even more.

On Monday, Manju went to Vijay Vihar police station again to lodge another complaint against Ishwar who runs a shoe factory. This time, Ishwar attacked her with a gun, to teach her a lesson, the official added.

A case of attempt to murder has been lodged at Vijay Vihar police station against Ishwar.

He is absconding after the incident and outer Delhi police are looking for him, said a police official.
