Charge sheet filed in stadium blasts case

The Central Crime Branch sleuths filed a charge sheet in the court of the first additional chief metropolitan magistrate in connection with the blasts outside M Chinnaswamy Cricket Stadium before the beginning of an IPL match on April 17, 2010.

Investigation Officer ACP Nyamagouda filed the 3,000-page charge sheet which contains statements of 122 witnesses, reports of Forensic Science Laboratory and 232 other related documents. The charge sheet has named 14 persons belonging to Indian Mujahideen, the police said.

The police have already arrested seven people including Kamal Hasan, Gayur Ahmed and Gauhar Aziz, while seven others are still at large.

The police are on the lookout for the prime suspects, Riyaz Bhatkal and Yasin Bhatkal. Riyaz is believed to be hiding in Pakistan, while the others are in Saudi Arabia. The police have issued a red corner notice against them.

A total of seven terrorists were involved in the blasts – four directly and the rest indirectly.

Yaseen Ahmed, 36, a resident of Bhatkal, Mohammed Qateel Siddiqui, 27, from Darbangha district in Bihar, Gayur Ahmed Jamali, 21, from Madhubani in Bihar and Farooq, 33, from Darbangha, carried out the explosions. They were assisted by Mousin Chowdhary, Iqbal Bhatkal and Riyaz Bhatkal.
