Former chief minister B S Yeddyurappa seems to have made it a habit of taking digs at his own partymen on the floor of the Legislative Assembly.

Two days after he launched a tirade against the Government for its laxity in tackling the drought situation, Yeddyurappa turned the heat on ministers in the Shettar Cabinet.

“Some ministers are not present in either of the Houses. They must be very busy, but God alone knows where they are,” the former chief minister said, much to the amusement of the Opposition members.

Yeddyurappa’s intervention came after JD(S) floor leader in the Assembly H D Revanna stopped midway in his speech during the discussion on budget, pointing out the absence of ministers in the House.

Revanna said he would continue his speech on Friday. H K  Kumaraswamy, who was in the Chair, called another member to speak.

However, BJP and other Congress members objected stating a member cannot stop his speech midway and continue the same on some other day.

Yeddyurappa urged Revanna to proceed with his speech. “Officials are not interested in the discussion because there is no profit.

But we the elected representatives, including ministers, should work on a war-footing to mitigate the sufferings of the people reeling under severe drought,” Yeddyurappa said.

Revanna continued the speech after Deputy Chief Minister K S Eshwarappa and Energy Minister Shobha Karandlaje entered the House.
