Opener KB Pawan slammed an unbeaten ton as KSCA Colts strengthened their position on the third and penultimate day of their Safi Darashah Trophy match against KSCA XI here at the BGS ground on Sunday.

The right-hander was unbeaten on 125 (241b, 12x4, 1x6) in Colts’ second innings score of 262 for two in 78 overs when the stumps were drawn for the day.

Left-handed batsman Amit Verma was giving him company on 61 after R Samarth had been dismissed for an identical score. Earlier, KSCA XI, overnight 160 for seven in reply to Colts’ 406 all out, could add just 30 runs to the previous night’s total. Colts opted to bat again instead of enforcing the follow on and had increased their lead to a mammoth 472 going into the final day’s play.

At the Alur grounds, the match between Bangladesh ‘A’ and Baroda Cricket Association too appeared to be heading towards draw after the Ambati Rayudu-led side put up a much improved batting display in their second innings. Having conceded a 112-run lead on first innings, Baroda rattled 388 for five in 101 overs to establish an impressive 276-run cushion.

Rayudu was the top-scorer (86) with Pinal Shah (76), Kedhar Devdhar (67 batting) and Anupam Gupta (67) making significant contributions.
