MLA charges govt with violation

Last Updated 31 July 2012, 19:38 IST

Congress MLA Krishna Byregowda on Tuesday accused the State government of violating norms by allotting 10 acres of prime land in Byatarayanapura, near Bengaluru International Airport, to a prominent builder in lieu of constructing an Agriculture Produce Marketing Committee (APMC) yard.

Raising the matter in the Legislative Assembly, Byregowda said the government had acquired 30 acres of land from farmers to construct a state-of-the-art APMC.

The State government recently had entered into an agreement with the builder, wherein 10 acres of the said land would be given to the developer on a 60-year lease. In return, the builder would construct the APMC yard at a cost of Rs 105 crore on the remaining 20 acre land. However, Byregowda did not name the builder.
