 The UGC Centre for Women's Studies was inaugurated at  Bishop Cotton Women’s Christian College.  A workshop of a similar nature was conducted for registrars, principals, deans, chairpersons and professors of various universities of Kerala and Karnataka. The modules transacted by scholars from various universities included women's studies’ perspective, women and governance, women and academic leadership, personal and professional roles, women and research.

Some ‘Paraadigm’ moments
The two-day State-level IT Fest Paraadigm '09, organised by PESBCA, witnessed bug-fixing, IT-Quiz, SDLC, Amazing Race and IT-Manager among other events. As many as 30 colleges from Bangalore and five colleges from Hubli and Belgaum
participated in the event.

Every winner was given away pen drives, bags, wallets and trophies with certificates. Special gifts like high-end gaming mouse were given away for gaming winners. A 160 GB sleek external hard drive and a corporate tie set was given away for the Best
IT-Manager. Judges had come from various industries to select the winners and runners for technical events.

Hindustani vocalist Sonia Narayanan and percussionist-music composer Praveen D Rao judged the instrumental round. Jain College, Belgaum were declared the overall champions.

  Praveen D Rao advised students to be keen observers of miracles happening around. He spoke about learning new things from simple facts.
    The fest logged out with the message of ‘Grow Green’, community development and quality learning.
   Every participant accepted the sapling offer and pledged for Grow Green and
nation-building activities.
