The ‘City Rounds’ by the chief minister is aimed at bringing responsibility and accountability in the administration of the local bodies which have been receiving huge funds but have failed to rise to the expectations of the people.

Speaking to reporters, he said that during his city rounds he will inspect road conditions, drainage, water supply, power supply, health and hygiene.

He made it clear that it was the responsibility of urban local bodies to ensure satisfactory civic conditions. The cities must maintain cleanliness and hygiene and any laxity on the part of the officials will be viewed very seriously, he warned.

Taken to task

He expressed his displeasure over the very poor state of civic affairs in Gulbarga and took the administration to task for failing to deliver the goods.

He pointed out that although his Government had given special grants of Rs 100 cr to the Mahanagara Palike it had failed to utilise the funds.
