A class 12 student was severely beaten up by a teacher in Nagaur in Rajasthan, allegedly for showing disrespect while the teacher was entering the class on Saturday last week. The student lost conciousness due to the beating.

The student was first admitted to a local government hospital, from where he was shifted to Jodhpur after his condition did not improve. A case has been registered against the management of Sharda Bal Niketan School and the teacher, Mahesh Sharma.Police said Durga Shanker did not get up from his seat when Sharma entered the class. Sharma felt offended and asked for a stick.  But Durga’s apology did not work and the teacher did not stop beating him till he fell unconscious, police said quoting witnessness.  Other students said Shanker was busy writing something and did not notice the teacher entering the class. However, after the incident the principal and other teachers tried to hush up the incident. But when the student did not regain consciousness for long, anxious school authorities rushed him to a government hospital, alleged Jhoomer Ram, father of the victim.   He said the school management not only tried to hide the case but admitted Shanker to hospital under a fictitious name, Ramesh.
