Forum to get 'Sunny side' by September end

Deputy Commissioner Dr Shivashankar said that General Thimmaiah’s residence ‘Sunny side’ will be handed over to the Forum by September end.

Speaking after receiving memorandum to Field Marshal K M Cariappa and General Thimmaiah Forum office-bearers, he said “I have already held meetings with Transport Commissioner and PWD officials to hand over the house to Sunny side. The higher authorities have already decided to hand over the house to the Forum.”

The work on RTO office is under progress near Abbeyfalls road. The office will be constructed at an estimated cost of Rs two crore. The concerned authorities have been directed to complete the work at the earliest.

Forum convenor Major Nanda Nanjappa submitted a memorandum to the Deputy Commissioner.

The memorandum urged the DC to convert Sunny Side into a museum by the next birth anniversary of General Thimmaiah. The proposed protest by the Forum on August 15 has been postponed following the promise by the DC.

The Forum office-bearers B S Thammaiah Ulliyada Poovaiah, Nella Makkada, Shambhu Somaiah, Rabin Subbaiah, Thamma Poovaiah, Kodava Samaja President Mathanda Suresh Changappa, Secretary Rathan Kuttaiah, Kannada and Culture department Assistant Director Indiramma, PWD engineer Dodda Siddappa and others were present.
