A businessman and his friends were beaten up by five youths with iron roads opposite Cross River mall in east Delhi on Thursday night.

The youths bashed up Neeraj Gaur, 34, and his friends Praveen Gautam and Sunil Gupta after their vehicle barely hit the youths’ car at a parking lot in Surajmal Vihar block A around 8:45 pm.

“After spending some time there, we decided to leave. While reversing the car which Praveen was driving, we accidentally hit into an aqua green Accent car which was right behind us. We didn’t realise that the car was behind our car,” said Gaur in his complaint to police.

Police said despite the fact that nothing had happened to the car or its occupants, the victims apologised and left.

But the youths followed them on their car and intercepted them near Cross River mall. “Before we could realise anything, they came out of the car and started breaking the glasses of our car with a stick and iron rods. When I came out of the car, they beat me up as well and later injured my friends too,” Gaur told police.
The victims claimed that the accused threatened them against informing anyone about the incident before fleeing.

The victims, who were in a state of shock, were unable to note down the registration number of the Accent car. While Praveen and Sunil got minor injuries, Neeraj was rushed to a nearby hospital. He was discharged after first aid.

“We have registered a case against unknown persons under sections for causing hurt. All the accused youths are in the age group of 20 to 25 years. We have started a manhunt,” said a police officer.
