<p>Nearly 4,000 government doctors who had been staging a protest since August 4, called off their agitation Tuesday evening, after the State government agreed to increase their salaries. <br /><br /></p>.<p>The protesters, who had set August 14 as deadline for the government to respond to their demands, withdrew their resignations.<br /><br />Dr H N Ravindra, president, Karnataka Government Medical Officers’ Association (KGMOA) said the doctors who have served in government hospitals up to six years will get an increment of Rs 6,000; those with six to 13 years of work experience will be entitled for a hike of Rs 7,000; and doctors with a service record of 13 years and longer will be given a hike of Rs 8,000. <br /><br />Two of the 11 district hospitals being managed by the Department of Medical Education will be handed over to the Department of Health and Family Welfare. <br /></p>
