Miscreants destroy 3 petty shops in Perdur

Three petty shops owned by three different people were destroyed by miscreants at Perdur in Udupi on Tuesday.

According to police, complainants Suresh Kulal, Ramesh Kulal and Tammayya Naik have alleged that some miscreants had come with JCB and a tipper and ruined their small outlets they were running with the license from Panchayat.

Suresh Kulal was running a petty shop in Perdur upper market area since 17 years. He had procured a license from Panchayat. He has lost goods worth Rs 50,000 besides some land records and bank pass book.

Ramesh Kulal who was running a small canteen near Gandhi School has alleged that K Shantharam, Vasanth Kumar Shetty, Shantha Shetty, Rajkumar Shetty and Devu Poojary are responsible for the attack. He has incurred a loss of Rs 70,000.

Tamayya Naik in Perdur upper market area whose petty shop was bulldozed by JCB and tipper following the directions by K Shantharam, Vasanth Kumar Shetty, Shantha Shetty, Rajkumar Shetty and Devu Poojary. He suffered a loss worth Rs 50,000. He was running his shop since 15 years in the area.

When the issue was raised in the KDP meet, Panchayat Development Officials, officials from Public Works Department and also Taluk Panchayat Officials said that they were unaware of the incident. It is said that the issue has some political involvement.

However, the work was carried out by Panchayat members alleging that these shop keepers had not followed the norms.

Three separate cases are registered in Heeriyadka police station.
