AP professors arrested for sexual abuse

The Andhra Pradesh Police on Friday arrested two professors from Sri Venkateswara University, on a charge of sexual harassment to its research scholars.

The accused were identified as Professor Rajeswar Rao, head of the Zoology department in the university and another Professor Vijaya Kumari.

Confirming the arrests, Damodar, DIG (CID) said both have been taken into custody on complaints of sexual harassment filed by a few research scholars and students.The police said that the students were harassed to succumb to their desires by the professor and the lady professor who abetted him in his act.

The students and research scholars were warned of dire consequences  if they did not cooperate and yield to them.

This is the second time that a professor has been hauled up on such charge in the temple town. Few years ago a lecturer was hauled up on chargs of running a brothel by exploiting her lady students .
