'Dark' Friday in parts of City

Last Updated 17 August 2012, 19:45 IST

Several parts of the City went without power for the longest duration on Friday, following technical glitches at a Karnataka Power Transmission Corporation Limited’s (KPTCL) 220 KVA station.

Power supply was disrupted in Vijaynagar, Nagarbavi, M C Layout, Rajajinagar, Chandra Layout, GKW Layout, areas around Bangalore University, Hosakerehalli, HSR Layout, Jayanagar, BTM Layout, Banashankari and other places.

Several people complained about the power cuts since 7.30 am. “It was restored for just five minutes at around 12.30 noon. Again there was a power cut until evening,” said Sridevi of HSR Layout.

The Bescom authorities said the power cut was due to ‘jump cut’ in the Vrishabavathi 220 KV station near Kengeri.

t will be restored by night. This is just to ensure that there will not be any technical problem due to an overload,” said a Bescom official.
