Madan, Preethi crowned

Madhan, who lost his chance at winning the Under-14 crown with a loss in the semifinal against Anthony Savio, held off a late surge from Pranav Karthik in the final with a 6-4, 7-5 win. Madhan took the first set with ease and Karthik gave a fight in the second but Madhan held on to claim the title.

In the corresponding girls’ category, Gokhale demolished Preethi Bhandurgi6-0, 6-3. Gokhale, who beat Dhruthi Venugopal in her semifinal match, made no mistakes as she dominated the first set and despite losing three games in the second Gokhale went on to seal the match in her favour.

Antonio Savio clinched the boys’ under-14 title with a 6-3, 6-4 win over Rahul BS.
Nandini Das warded off a stiff challenge from Swetha Sangwan 6-3, 4-6, 7-5 to be crowned girls’ under-14 champ.
