UNSC resolution not directed against India: PM

Last Updated 26 September 2009, 05:13 IST

"We have been assured that this is not a resolution directed at India and that the US commitment to carry out its obligations under the civil nuclear agreements that we have signed with United States remains undiluted, that we have been assured officially by the United States government," he told reporters after the G-20 summit here.

However, Iran as a signatory to the NPT should fulfil all its obligations since it also enjoys rights under that agreement, Manmohan Singh said.

"Our position is that Iran as a signatory to the NPT has all rights to peaceful use of atomic energy and also should carry out its obligations," he said.

Asked about Britain and France threatening sanctions against Iran for secretly pursuing uranium enrichment facility, Singh said the Iran issue did not come up during the G-20 Summit.
